All accomplished veterans of the Northeast music scene, the JBE has been together for this past year and a half. They will play anything...from straight up grooves, Jazz, Chicago style blues, rock classics...originals compositions.

3-Joe Belmont directs the Jazz Ensembles at NCMC. He received his B.A. from the City University of New York.Duncan Sheik. He has played with a variety of bands, including The Hamptones, Urban Renewal, and Fresh Squeeze. He plays guitar, writes and arranges music for the band Viva Quetzal, recording three CDs and traveling to numerous gigs. He has two solo albums: “Sketches from the Journey Home” (2003) and “Live at Leeds (Northampton)” (2005). Joe has taught jazz guitar at Amherst College since 1990.

He also plays with Duo Fusion, his collaboration with flutist Sarah Swersy. He has written a Classical Suite for this group which will premier in Fall 2013. In the summer of 2013 Joe also served as Music Director for the world premier run of the play, "Arms on Fire", written by the Tony and Grammy award winning team of Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik.

Joe Whalen is a graduate of Westfield State College with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Studies and a Masters Degree in Music Education. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators, and has also worked as a clinician specializing in jazz rhythm sections at schools across the region. Joe has also worked closely with the Jazz At Lincoln Center Band Directors Academy and the Essentially Ellington Festival in New York. He was a scholarship recipient at Jazz in July at UMASS, and named MVP at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival. Joe is a bassist and has appeared across the country. His performance credits include performances with such jazz artists as Dr. Billy Taylor, Atilla Zollar, Yusef Lateef, Jim Snidero, Conrad Herwig, Steve Davis, Cecil Payne and Jo Sallins. He has also served as musical director for such acts as Souled Out, (a 9 piece Motown show band) , the JUS US Band, Latanya Farrell Band, and Rubber Soul: A Celebration of the music of the Beatles. He has also played bass with the “Stars in Concert" music series, and acted as musical director for comedian Bob Newhart. He performs with many area and regional jazz big bands and small groups.

Keith Levreault has been playing drums professionally for over 35 years. He has a B.A. In Music from Westfield State University. Besides playing with Joe Belmont, Keith has played with many local and national artists including Valley favorites The Lonesome Brothers, Blood Oranges (Eastside Digital), Kevin Salem (Roadrunner Records), 'Til Tuesday guitarist Robert Holmes' Love Bomb and many others.
