Rosemary Caine's Wilde Irish Women return to the Hawks and Reed! with a "Best Of" revival from their five original musicals!

Rosemary Caine's Wilde Irish Women return to the Hawks and Reed on the 15th and 16th of November, with a "Best Of" revival from their five original musicals created over the past 15 years. The shows have been performed at numerous local venues and two were presented at festivals in Ireland.

Spanning millennia of history, the musicals celebrate Irish women of literature, legend, and real life. From what's known as the Táin Epic, or The Ulster Cycle, they bring us Nessa, Deirdre, Macha, and Maeve -- fierce women warriors, dispensers of curses and magic, and memorable brainy beauties. Moving across the centuries, there are musical cameos from Grace O'Malley, the last High Queen of Ireland Gormlaith and The Pirate Queen, a contemporary of Elizabeth I who gave birth while commanding a fleet of ships against the Turks (now that’s wild!). Joining the fun is Molly Malone of fish, fame, dubious fortune, and even more dubious reputation. We meet the lovely and tragic Sarah Curran, fiancée of rebel Robert Emmet. We learn of Elizabeth O'Farrell's bravery during the 1916 Rising. There are songs from James Joyce's real wife Nora Barnacle and his literary wife Molly Bloom, as well as the contemporary investigative reporter Veronica Guerin, tragically cut down by the Irish drug mafia.

The poetry of WB Yeats and William Allingham serves to enhance the stories, and all is overseen by the Doyenne of Dames, the Wildest Wilde Woman of all, Lady Jane Wilde herself. Known as Speranza, she holds these feminine icons to historical and hysterical account.

The cast includes Michael Haley, Joan Haley, Charlene Scott, Ann and Brooke Steinhauser, Moe McElliott, Stephanie Carlson, Alannah Martineau, Sean McMahon, and Matt Haas. Rosemary Caine, Chris Devine, Michael Morgan, Robin Pfoutz, Rob Terreden, and Lynn Lovell provide the music, with a rich and unusual range of instruments.

The "Best of Wilde Irish Women" features almost 20 of Rosemary Caine's original compositions in a concert format with a sprinkling of costumed drama. The Salon of Lady Jane Wilde comes to life at The Perch -- Hawks and Reed.
