Silverthorne presents a Community Arts Project, a free performance of Ta Voix Poete (Your Voice, Poet) and an open discussion.

The play was written by Haitian actor and playwright Jean Dany Joachim and won Silverthorne's 2016 Playwrights of Color Competition. It will be performed by New York’s Medicine Show Theatre Ensemble and directed by David Elyha.

In the play, three characters offer insight into the world of the dispossessed. A Man, A Woman, and A Soldier implore The Poet to give voice to the conditions in which they live their lives.

After the play, there will be an inclusive discussion between scholars, audience members and performers, to address questions raised by the play. Discussion leaders include local artists and activists, such as Magdalena Gomez, Ellen Kaplan, Kent Alexander, Corey Sanderson, and Andrea Cohen Kiener. Dr. Carolyn Shread, Lecturer at Mount Holyoke College, will lead the discussion.

We are committed to providing opportunities for meaningful paid work to local and regional theater artists and to contributing to the cultural life and economic vitality of Greenfield and the greater Franklin County area. Our mission is to produce the very best dramatic materials, whether new or from the ranks of established works, that focus on the human condition and bring unheard voices to the stage. These must challenge both audiences and actors to think deeply about their theatrical experience and carry these experiences well beyond the walls of the theater.
