Two Week Notice is a new songwriter project featuring members of Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem, Mobius Band, and Salvation Alley String Band. Musical friends Adam Dunetz, Anand Nayak, Matt Silberstein and Noam Schatz have been challenging each other to write and record a new song every other week.
Mystics Anonymous is the name of singer/songwriter Jeff Steblea’s musical project, best defined as eclectic independent rock. “With Mystics,” says Steblea, “the whole point was to establish a project where nothing is off-limits.”https://hawksandreed.ticketfly.com/event/1620059/
Musical friends Adam Dunetz, Anand Nayak, Matt Silberstein and Noam Schatz have been challenging each other to write and record a new song, due every other Wednesday by midnight. At the beginning of each two-week period, one of them suggests a prompt (a phrase, an instruction), and then each writes a song in response.
Some of the prompts have included “The end of cynicism,” “Prove or disprove a scientific theory,” “Find a photo of yourself and write a song based on what you think/feel when you look at it,” and “Write a Tom Petty song called ‘Two Birds, One Stone.’ ”
Dunetz started the songwriting game, and Schatz was nervous at first about the quick turnaround necessary, never having pushed himself to write in that way.
“I remember getting the first prompt (write a song from the perspective of Julio in ‘Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard’), thinking it was dumb and/or impossible, then picking up a guitar and writing the beginning in just a few minutes,” Schatz said. “Something about having the starting-gun idea of the prompt combined with the added pressure of a looming deadline makes the process flow very naturally. You don't have time to be overly critical or second guess your own taste. You just have to go with it.”

From rootsy acoustic material with jazz elements to harder alternative rock to more experimental, ambient, and score music, Mystics Anonymous has been defined by its fierce independence and adventurous eclecticism.
While Mystics Anonymous draws from an impressive range of influences, Jeff’s distinctive voice and songwriting skill are the glue that holds Mystics together and keeps its sound unique. Jeff’s expressive, award-winning baritone and impressive vocal range have drawn comparisons to singers such as David Bowie, Jim Morrison, Nick Cave, and Mike Patton.
