Rice - an American Band plays a combination of originals and covers including material from both classic bands (e.g. Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Ray Vaughn) and indie bands (e.g. Woodbox Gang and International Anthem).

Colorway is a 21st century power trio with pop songs on the brain and guitar rock in its heart. Andy Partridge, Frank Zappa, David Gilmour, Dan Auerbach, Richard Thompson and Brian Eno would all approve, we are certain.

Rice: An American Band
Rice: An American Band
rice - an American Band was born in the summer of 2014 as a few friends got together to jam, and liked the results. A mutual admiration society developed and a love of performing music together was created.

The band has already played clubs in CT, MA, RI, and VT. Festival plays already include Strangecreek Campout, Wormtown Music Festival, Jerry Jam and the Redneck Olympics and ski areas already include Stratton and Mount Snow.

The band plays a combination of originals and covers including material from classic bands like Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Ray Vaughn. But lesser known material from bands like Woodbox Gang and International Anthem will play to fans like originals though they are written by past indie bands.

See you on the road!
Hailing from Northampton, Mass and exuding the progressive, energetic and rootsy/indie leanings of the Pioneer Valley (home of And The Kids, The Sun Parade and Sebadoh) Colorway has put out two full length albums of finessed rock and roll (the latest release mastered by engineering god, Bob Ludwig). The band strive to make every live show an new experience where revelatory moments aren't sacrificed for the sake of a cookie cutter set devoid of rough edges. Bandleader/vocalist/guitarist F. Alex Johnson gobbles up every inch of real estate on his guitar neck while bassist Matt Clegg and drummer, Riley Godleski hold down the fort with equal parts grace and ferocity.

Colorway has opened sold out shows for Foreigner, The Yardbirds, Delta Deep (feat. members of Def Leppard and Stone Temple Pilots), Ian Hunter, Quinn Sullivan and Television's Richard Lloyd (who called the group "amazing and inspiring") and was included in the 2016 Green River Festival alongside Dawes, Los Lobos, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Shakey Graves, Peter Wolf, NRBQ and tons more over three days.

The band is currently working on material for its third album and immediate (and continuous) plans are to play to anyone, anywhere, anytime and anyway they can. Music is one of our most precious resources, but luckily it is renewable if one has the motivation, the drive and the passion. Colorway has all of this and more and shows no sign of slowing down.

A tour of the southeast is scheduled for late April 2017 but Colorway performs regularly in NYC, Boston, Burlington, Worcester, Albany, New Haven and at home in Northampton, MA.
