Samirah Evans
Samirah Evans
Since relocating from New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, Samirah Evans has been delighting audiences across the northeastern U.S., performing or sharing stages with the likes of Charles Neville, Sheila Jordan, Allman Brothers drummer, Jamoie, Pancho Sanchez., Duke Robillard, Dr. John, Wallace Roney, John Sheldon, and Avery Sharp. Her touring band, Samirah Evans and Her Handsome Devils, delivers swampy, soulful takes on jazz and blues classics as well originals; while other projects, such as the the George Kaye quintet “Porgy & Bess” project and her tribute to Nina Simone and Etta James in conjunction with Evelyn Harris, honor the musical and cultural roots of the music. Evans is a member of the visiting artist faculty at Williams College and a private vocal instructor, as well as the founder of the NOLABratts choir.
Molly Steinmark
Molly Steinmark is a vocalist and drummer from Brattleboro, VT. whose style ranges from soul to jazz, to hip-hop, funk and R&B. Her thirteen years as a professional performer has garnered a prominent local following. She has been a feature at venues including the Green River Festival, Strangecreek, and Barnaby’s Music Festival. Her current projects include Molly Steinmark & Friends and M.O.D. (Molly On Drums). She also sings and plays percussion for the MILES band.

Funk hip-hop band Groove Shoes and Dr. Reputation featured Steinmark as the lead singer and percussionist. She also sang and played drums for the Reggae group Mo Ambesa. In addition to sharing the stage with some of the valley’s finest musicians, Steinmark has also performed with nationally known artists including Alan Evans (of Soulive), Nigel Hall (of Lettuce), Turkuaz, NRBQ, and Russell Batiste (the funky Meters).

Steinmark is an avid learner of vocal improvisation. This study has led her to explore improv as a solo artist by utilizing a looping pedal. In 2015, she taught in Munich, Germany, teaching voice, beat boxing, percussion, body percussion and drums. She has been teaching locally ever since.
